Phoenix Glass Recycling - 2025 Bin Policy
Updated September 1st, 2025
We understand that changes like this may bring questions. Our bin policy, effective March 1st, 2025, with full enforcement beginning September 1st, 2025, is designed to prevent ongoing issues with stolen or mixed-up bins and missed collections, align with municipal waste collection services, while helping us keep services affordable.
Policy Overview
All subscribers must purchase and use at least one of our standard grey Phoenix bins (“bins”) for glass collections. This ensures bins are easily identified by our drivers and reduces confusion with other waste services. You may still use personal or older blue bins as overflow following our Bin Safety & Etiquette and Accepted Materials guidelines, as long as the grey bin is present on collection day.
Overflow Guidelines
Secondary bins must be made of sturdy plastic, approximately 18–20 gallons in size, and must have drain holes to prevent water accumulation.
A maximum of two bins may be placed out per collection day.
A third bin may be placed out with no less than 24 hours' advance notice before the subscriber’s collection day, submitted via website message or email.
Glass should not overflow past the brim of the bin, as noted in our Bin Safety and Etiquette information posted in our FAQs. A rule of thumb is that two bins that are 2/3 full are safer and more manageable than one overfilled bin.
Bin Safety and Etiquette can be reviewed here.
Accepted Materials can be reviewed here.
Ownership & Care
Once purchased, bins become the property of the subscriber. It is your responsibility to care for and use them according to our Collection Day Instructions. Any bin that is damaged, lost, or stolen must be replaced at your expense to continue collections. If you cannot process a replacement order through the Customer Account Portal, please contact us promptly so we can assist.
Ordering a Bin
You can purchase up to three bins for $25 per bin anytime through the Customer Account Portal using the walkthrough steps posted here, or by contacting us directly by phone or email for assistance. Bins will be delivered on your next scheduled collection day or can be picked up at our facility by scheduling a Container Shop appointment.
Compliance Enforcement
Enforcement of this policy, effective September 1st, 2025, equates to a partial collection or non-collection of glass on the collection day. With a requirement for the subscriber to schedule a facility drop-off appointment under the ‘Missed Collection or Extra Drop-off’ option.
Non-Compliance
Repeated failure to comply with bin requirements may result in partial or uncompleted collections, temporary suspension, or cancellation of service until proper containers are in use and safety guidelines are followed per our Terms & Conditions.
